To feel the aesthetic of ruin is to lay one's body within the decay, becoming part of the broken tiles. The moment when gazing at the ruin, an inner desolate voice is heard and echoed.
Last Words Of The Dust II, a site-specific work responding to an ancestral residence named Wu whose neighbourhood is undergoing demolition and renovation for a commerce center in Ningbo.
While lingering in the landscape of the demolition and renovation, a sensation of displacement arose, thousand tiles that were once constructed to a place called home are going to adapt and refurbish. A suspending moment between the demolition and renovation endow the landscape of ruin. Amid the landscape of ruin, I linger in that final pause before ruins are flattened, before the last fragment is taken away. A silent scream, frozen in time.
