‘Sonder’, the idea that everyone lives a life just as vivid as one’s own, touches on looking to others for approval and the social value of fitting in (nobody is thinking about you, they’re thinking about themselves). Through sonder we are freed from what others think of us, providing a sense of comfort/safety - ultimately leading to a sense of belonging, as we find a home in the comfort sonder provides.

Similarly, my collection is rooted in belonging - inspired by rosary beads, used to pray for a better future. Rosaries transcend time and religion - the design is one of the oldest pieces of jewellery, providing a connection to generations of heritage and culture. It serves as an identity, a mark of the religious, a vessel to speak to God.

The jewellery is a vessel expressing my story - the texture is rugged, the chains are heavy. The metal holding the gemstones are molten, clutching onto a gemstone that represents my creative spirit. I’ve found a home in my creativity, the jewellery preserving my fleeting emotions. The aesthetic emphasises textures to tell my story: a creative fighting for authentic self-expression on his journey to finding a home.
